Cape Cod Potato Chip Factory Tour

Discover how the Cape Cod Potato Chip Factory creates their hand-stirred, kettle-cooked, famously delicious potato chips during a free tour. This tour is a tasty diversion for kids and adults alike. The factory is in Hyannis, and tours are offered every half hour Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Lighthouse Tours

Have you ever wanted to see the breathtaking view from the lantern room of a lighthouse? Well, now is your chance. Cape Cod is home to 10 picturesque lighthouses and several of them offer free tours. Explore the Chatham Lighthouse, the Nobska Point Light in Eastham, or Provincetown’s Race Point Lighthouse. Free tours are offered all summer and on a limited schedule in the off-season.

Chatham Fish Pier

You don’t want to miss the Chatham Fish Pier when the local fishermen unload their daily catch. You’ll be in for a treat when the resident seals show up and put on a show as they beg for their lunch from the fishermen. The pier is open year round but the best time to see the seals is from May to August.

Cape Cod Baseball League

A warm summer evening is a perfect time to catch a free Cape Cod Baseball League game. From June to July you can cheer on up-and-coming players as they compete for the championship. Games are played everywhere on the Cape–from Bourne to Orleans and every town in between.

Geocaching

Geocaching is a popular hobby all over the world, and it’s no different in Cape Cod. It’s fitting to hunt for treasure in a place of famed historic explorers and notorious pirates! Use your GPS to find treasure hidden by numerous geocachers all around the Cape. Geocaching gives you the chance to explore Cape Cod in a totally different way.

Beach Bonfires

Nauset Light Beach in Eastham and Herring Cove Beach in Provincetown offer fun, family-friendly bonfires on the beach, complete with songs, games, and tales of Cape Cod’s history. Free beach bonfire events occur during the months July and August. Or you can bring your own wood and have a personal campfire any time of the year.

Cape Cod Canal

The Cape Cod Canal provides awesome views of passing ships. Cruise lines, jumbo car carriers, and cargo ships can be seen as they travel between Cape Cod Bay and Buzzard’s Bay. There is a visitor’s center in Sandwich where you can learn all about the canal and then you can walk or bike around and explore all the canal has to offer.

The Captain’s Mile

Route 6A in Yarmouthport is lined with more than 40 historic sea captain’s homes. Stop by the Historical Society of Old Yarmouth for some information and a brochure about the homes and then take a leisurely, self-guided tour of the homes.

Nickerson State Park

Located in Brewster, Nickerson State Park is open all year round and has no admission fees. Enjoy beaches, freshwater ponds, walking and biking trails, playgrounds, amazing fishing, and ranger-led activities for children and adults. There is something for everyone in Nickerson State Park.
